reLoad checks out progress on the new Marpole Community Centre
Hugh Nolan, our embodied carbon specialist, paid a site visit to see progress on the replacement Marpole Community Centre in Oak Park, Vancouver.
This hybrid mass timber structure is set to achieve an embodied carbon reduction of over 40%, while targeting both Passive House and LEED Gold certifications.
reLoad acted as the project’s carbon consultant, leading embodied carbon modeling, whole-building life cycle assessment (wbLCA), and low-carbon strategy development. Early analysis established a robust carbon baseline, enabling clear, data-driven decisions throughout design.

It's great to see this community-focused, low-carbon project coming to life in Vancouver!
